Brides Wearing Glasses

Beau and I are in the finishing stages of preparing for our wedding this weekend. There are still a few tiny details and decisions that need to be ironed out. One of them is the deciding whether or not to wear my glasses for the entirety of our big day.

I have been wearing my glasses for 14 years now (since I was 7 years old) and have seen it as an extension of myself. However, I considered removing them for the ceremony in order to achieve what I thought would be 'better looking photos'. I planned on using the little vision that I have to be able to make it down the aisle and throughout the day, but after reviewing our engagement photos (where I removed my glasses for all of the photos), I would feel much more comfortable wearing them because I look much better with them on and because of the insecurities I have surrounding my exotropia.

I am still a little worried about wearing glasses for fear of the awful glare with flash photography and having them look cumbersome with a veil, but I researched photos of brides wearing glasses, and found that they were all beautiful and glare free.

I now feel more comfortable going with my gut feeling and wearing my glasses. Besides, I wear my glasses every single day of my life, so why should I remove them for just that one day?

My First Time

Source

I remember most of the details so vividly.
My first experience with snow was the blizzard of '96 (January 6th).
I was 7 years old.
I had only emigrated to the U.S. from Jamaica, 6 months before.
It stood above my knees.... or was it at my hips?
I have never seen nor experienced anything like it.
My sister was cruel enough to push me into it while walking to school.
Yet, I thought it was the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

I Fear

.... the wretched over-bite. It is so unbecoming!

I also fear a great deal of MANY other things in regards to my physical appearance (i.e. obesity, burning to a crisp during the summer months, etc) . But as I listed those things one by one to my dearest friend, Vanessa, on the elevator of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital last week, a wonderful nurse standing in the elevator said to me: "Oh honey, you're adorable! You don't have anything to fear. You're young!
Live your life!"

Needless to say, I was thoroughly embarrassed as the nurse exited the elevator and Vanessa laughed at me.

*sigh*

Granted, the nurse was right. There are worst things in life to be afraid of.

Blue Skies

Lower humidity = bluer skies.

It is said that the color of the sky is due to the scattering of certain wavelengths of light. If there is heavy moisture, the water droplets will scatter the light in all directions (think of a cloudy day). With higher humidity, the dewpoint is higher and there is more moisture in the air, causing the sky to have a palish blue tint to it. The lower humidity allows the brilliant blue to shine through and that is evident today. :-)

Here is a pic of the sky at the beach a few days ago. It had that palish look to it even though the humidity dropped the night before:

The image of the sky I am seeing today is much brighter. I'm too lazy to capture an image of it and upload it, so in the mean time.... enjoy Google image's beautiful, bright, blue sky.

Still Georgous At An Older Age

Actress Stacey Dash, you know the chick who played Dionne on the '90s hit show Clueless is now 44 years old and she's STILL gorgeous and looks pretty young! I hope that's me in like 22 years. :-)

"What else is there?"

I've decided to continue with the "Swan Princess" theme from yesterday. There's a scene after Odette sings "I see him smiling and my knees start buckling..." where Derek decides to arrange the marriage between the two of them b/c he thinks that she is beautiful. Odette stops the celebration and asks "Is beauty all that matters to you? What else?".... The wonderful and charming Derek responds saying.... well, just watch for yourself.
(Note: You only need to watch the first 2 minutes to hear his response)

I always thought boys were dumb while growing up after watching that part of the movie. I learned later on that not all of them are this clueless, though.
