In: Fluenza

Fever. Chills. Achy Joints. Tiredness. Stuffy nose.
Influenza.

The past week have been really rough, as I woke up early last Friday morning and felt like death. I had an awful headache-- the kind that feels like your brain has dislodged and is rolling around at free will in your skull; fever; severe tiredness -- I practically slept all day; and a stuffy nose -- the kind that feels like it was blockaded with cement. I was miserable and weak.

Word on the street (i.e. in news reports) is that the influenza (the flu) is taking many victims in the U.S. and this is the highest number of cases reported in several years. Healthcare professionals are urging individuals to protect themselves by staying home when sick, covering mouths when sneezing or coughing (as to prevent the grossness occurring in the above video), washing hands frequently, and getting vaccinated.

As I've hinted at in an older post, I am a HUGE advocate for vaccines. They help prevent the spread of highly communicable diseases and help protect those with weaker immune systems (i.e HIV/AIDS patients, those undergoing chemo/radiation, etc.) from acquiring such diseases. Regretfully, I did not get a flu vaccine this year, and regretfully so. I hope you, dearest readers, will take some precaution this season and consider getting vaccinated or at least taking precautionary measures in avoiding the seasonal flu.

Needless to say, I feel better now. And I'm glad! Beau was determined to nurse me to health with this bitter Jamaican tea (Cerasee), and I wasn't having any of it!

Stay healthy, everyone!

Days 1-5

I am only 5 days into Project Life 365 and it's already proving to be difficult. Being at home just about everyday makes finding subject matters worth photographing pretty tough. I am not too happy with the photos I have gathered this week, so I threw them all in a mosaic collage. I won't even bother writing a blurb to describe each.

I really would like to make this project work, and push myself beyond my limits. Therefore, I have set a short term goal: to have next week's photos be more amazing than this past week.

My other plans for having a successful Project 365 are:
  1.  Not taking the challenge too literally (i.e. snapping tidbits of my day).
  2.  Blogging about a photo every single day.
  3. Acquiring inspiration for my photos from the Daily Challenges on the project website until I get  the hang of things. I may even do hodgepodge of both (since blogging every day sounds tiring).
  4. Get out! get out! get out to capture quality/interesting shots. (I'm sure I could also use the fresh air).

If you are reading this and you are doing this photo challenge or have already completed one, what advice do you have to getting through?

I look forward to seeing what photos I will be able to capture next week!

On being happy(-ier)

I have been noticeably "happier" (as mentioned by those around me). It seems as if marriage has "done something for me".

Truth is, I am usually a solemn/serious person; increasingly so within the past year. So much has gone on. Much of it robbed me of my happiness. But it's back! I am happy with where I am in life now. I am happy to be married. I am happy to be away from what brought me tears.
