Abashed

For 10 years now, I believed my most embarrassing moment in life occurred the summer I visited my cousins in Massachusetts. We were walking home from summer camp, and  passed a couple of guys in front of a Hispanic store. I didn't pay them much attention, but as we walked down the street, I felt a very sharp pain in my bum, which scared me terribly. So, I took off running for a few blocks leaving my cousins behind. I am sure they were quite confused because I didn't say a word to them, I just started running. When I finally stopped running, caught my breath and allowed my cousins to catch up, I was finally able to tell them what happened....

Some random guy kicked me in my bum... I felt the sharp pain, freaked out and ran!

Now, as hilarious as this story is to everyone I tell, it was quite embarrassing. And as of 10 minutes ago, I think I have a story that is the adult equivalent to the embarrassment I experienced as a teenager...

I am currently watching Serendipity and the first half hour made me think about my beau and how much I love and miss him. I know he's out at a concert and probably wouldn't answer his phone if I called, so I decided to text those affections to him. I received a response almost instantaneously and it read:
"Ummm.... i think you sent this to the wrong person... LOL "

Clearly I sent the text to the wrong person... The woman whose children I babysit!!! I was so  embarrassed. Like, I literally laughed and cried, and had those prickly armpits (which I usually get when I'm nervous/embarrassed) all at the same time.
I am pretty sure everyone has a story like this, but I still think it was incredibly awkward.

I am easily abashed.

Plus One

There is a certain awkwardness that comes with being someone's plus one (guest):.....  The curious stares from everyone wondering who you are. Your shyness when it comes to meeting friends of friends. Being asked to join the soul-train line or bust a move (<-- ha!) in the dance circle.  The thoughts of why you are taking so many pics at this wedding when you don't even know any of the guests, muchless the bride or the groom.

Yes. There is a certain awkwardness that comes with being someone's plus one... But not quite as awkward as your best friend trying her hardest NOT to catch the bouquet, but it still manages to bounce off of not one, but two shoulders and land into her arms... Hilarious!

'Twas a beautiful wedding, nonetheless.

P.S. How'd you like my Desperate Housewives-esque pitch? ツ

Darling, I Don't Know How To Tell You This...

Taken from "(500) Days of Summer"

Just so this doesn't come off as offensive to anyone: this is the scene where Summer and Tom were shopping in IKEA and pretended that it was their house. They joked around about the TV not working in "their living room", the sink not working in "their kitchen". After having a "home-cooked meal", they scurried off to "their bedroom".
I always lol at this part! (Yes, I use 'lol' as a verb-- pronounced "luhl")

So, I was watching Thursdays (11/4/10) episode of Grey's Anatomy. In an effort to teach the residents of the hospital trauma techniques to deal with tough situations that may arise in the hospital setting, one of the doctors/characters of Grey's anatomy had them rescue the "patients". The residents had to take care of them until a helicopter came to rush them to a nearby hospital. None of this was real, as they worked with dummies and this so-called helicopter didn't even exist. One resident got really frustrated at all of the 'fakeness' and the fact that it had started pouring rain and there was obviously no helicopter coming, and many of the 'patients' were 'dying'. She decided to take matters into her own hands and rush the only '2 patients' that were still 'alive' to the hospital. This is how the scene following her decision played out. I thought it was hilarious... which is why I'm being lame and blogging about it now...

Owen: "Kepner...."

Owen: "...This ambulance was involved in the accident and is no longer running!"

a
April: "ok. We'll put keys in the ignition and let's see"

**engine starts**
April: "Hahaaa.... Looks like I got AAA"

April: "Apparently, they could get here when the helicopter couldn't!"

Compliments

Sometimes, I think my beau has a storage box of compliments to throw at me whenever I say something is wrong with the way I look.

Like, I would say "I look at hot mess" and he would respond "Well, you're the hottest looking mess I've ever seen". Lol.

I love him though.

Hiding

Ever found yourself walking down the center aisle of Target, then you see someone from high school and you dodge behind the REALLY tall shelves of the Electronics department? Well, I kind of did that today while walking around with my friend, Malinda. She said, "There goes M... S...", and as soon as those words escaped her mouth, we scurried into the closest aisle holding our heads down. Eventually we saw him again and sucked it up and spoke to him. Malinda and I really weren't in a talking mood at the time but I guess it's good to catch up with people sometimes.

Hurt Much?

Each week I check iTunes for their free song and video of the week. Sometimes I find some gems and download them... They're free after all. I usually sample them first on Youtube to figure out if I actually want such a song in my music library and this week's sampling came as a great surprise.

The free video of the week is "Pray for You" by Jaron and The Long Road to Love and my initial reaction to it was "um, wow?!" Now I'm just thinking that this guy was hurt terribly in his past relationship. By the end of the song, I couldn't help but to lawl. You be the judge....

[Bad] Ducks vs. Ducts

Sitting in my abnormal Psych class today listening to a guest speaker and she told a funny story about a 6 year old whose parents brought her to one of her colleague's office for treatment. The problem with the 6 year old was that she used to sleep in her room, by herself with no problems at all. One day, she stopped doing that and refused to even stay in her bedroom and was just immensely terrified of what the parents were unaware of at the time. It turns out this was the root of her fear...
... One day, the little girl and her dad went to the lake to feed the ducks. Her dad told her not to get too close to them because they bite. She listened to what her father said, fed the ducks and then they went home. When she arrived home, she ran up to her room to tell her mom about her day but it turned out that her mother wasn't there, a repairman was. He began to explain that the reason why the cooling system in the daughter's room wasn't operating correctly was because the DUCTS were really bad . Remembering what her father had told her earlier, the little girl thought that the repairman was referring to bad DUCKS being in her room and from then on she was terrified of sleeping there. :-D

Even though I was the only one to lol at that joke, I really do think it was pretty cute. ;-)
