This Weekend

I love my summer internship, but I look forward to the weekends more than anything. Weekends are a time for me to relax, unwind and spend time with my friends and the boyfriend. I especially like weekends because they are more eventful than they've ever really been in the past, but that's a story for another day. (And by weekend, I mainly mean Saturdays, and maybe Friday evenings, because my Sunday's are dedicated to church and resting for the upcoming week). Here are a few photos from this past weekend...

The NBC Great Shredder Event at Camden County College. Got rid of all the petitions from credit card companies and misc. mailings.

Malinda and I with NBC's Tracy Davidson.

Teavanna at the Deptford Mall. My friend spent her life's savings there... I am convinced!

An evening out with my beau with a lovely evening drive, nap, and delicious Indian food on South Street.

I Want Him

Dear God,

I want him, A.S. He is the one I want, Lord. I am extremely sorry for the forwardness, but this just all came to mind.
In 6 days, it will be 2 years since the day he acted all awkward and nervous until he finally asked me to be his girlfriend. (2.5 years since that conversation in January where he said “I’m kinda feelin’ you, and I think you’re kinda feelin’ me too. Wanna go out on a date?”) That was not the most romantic way of asking me out, but it worked.

I want him, Lord. With all his flaws.
I want him with all the frustrations that he brings me.
I want him with overgrown hair that he doesn’t want to cut until he “feels like it”.
I want him with his talkativeness.
I want him with his greediness/gluttonous ways.
I want him with the funky glasses, and the weird afro growing out right now.
I want him with his Dickies, baggy t-shirts, … stupid, ugly, slipper-looking K-Swiss(es).
I want him with the tight grip when we’re holding hands.
I want him with the soft lips.
I want him with his big brown eyes, one slanted tooth, and one perfectly arched eyebrow.
I want him who cries when I hurt his feelings.
I want him who calmly deals with me in all my miserableness and anger.
I want him who loves me dearly.
I want him who loves YOU dearly, Lord.
I want him who’s obedient to his earthly and spiritual fathers.
I want him who encourages me to try new things, and smiles when I love them.
I want him who interprets ALL bajillion-million facial expressions I can come up with at any given time, and who laughs at my stupid jokes.
I want him who is willing to do anything to make our relationship work.

… I want him, Lord God, who is strong enough to hear the woman he loves so deeply say to him, “I’m not sure I want to marry you”, but continues to hold fast to what you have revealed to him through prayer and consecration.

I. Want. Him.  :-\

Ever dealt with uncertainty about your relationship? How do you hear God's voice in these situations?

Plus One

There is a certain awkwardness that comes with being someone's plus one (guest):.....  The curious stares from everyone wondering who you are. Your shyness when it comes to meeting friends of friends. Being asked to join the soul-train line or bust a move (<-- ha!) in the dance circle.  The thoughts of why you are taking so many pics at this wedding when you don't even know any of the guests, muchless the bride or the groom.

Yes. There is a certain awkwardness that comes with being someone's plus one... But not quite as awkward as your best friend trying her hardest NOT to catch the bouquet, but it still manages to bounce off of not one, but two shoulders and land into her arms... Hilarious!

'Twas a beautiful wedding, nonetheless.

P.S. How'd you like my Desperate Housewives-esque pitch? ツ

Five Pin Friday

1. A mini caprese. It looks so fresh. My all time favorite sandwich is the chicken blt/caprese they had at my undergrad's snack bar. It was so delis!; 2) Lovely photographs. I think elephants are so beautiful. I have a thing for long lashes, they have the longest lashes I've ever seen!; 3) Winding staircase.; 4) I love the blue on blue color action going on, with the pop of orange. ; 5) This photo is in honor of Father's day this upcoming Sunday. This is a great gift idea for younger children.

Video of the Day -- I'm Yours

I'm Yours by The Script

-- I love this song so much!... it's very beautiful!

"I may not have the softest touch
I may not say the words as such
And though I may not look like much
I'm yours."

Here are 7 Things About Me, Jhan:

#7 I get antsy while listening to someone speak. I have some REAL talkers in my life (i.e. my mom, boyfriend, and high school bff)—Strange, because these people are the closest to me, yet we’re complete opposites when it comes to communicating. By antsy, I mean that if they begin going over my quota of talk overload, I have to find something to do. If I’m on the phone with my bf, then I’m either playing a game on my iTouch or browsing the internet. The same with my friend. If it’s my mom or some kind of elder giving counsel, I’ll start doodling or ripping at my nails if nothing more entertaining is at hand.

(You don't even want to know what kind of meeting I was in when I did this doodle, although you can probs tell by the notes.)

#6 I am a chain gum chewer. Yea, it’s kind of bad… well, it used to be. I wouldn’t say that I finished x-amount packs of gum per day (that’s just too much), but if the flavor gets old, I usually don’t hesitate to replace it with another piece.
#5  I am really good at google searching. See this post. My sister often tells me that I am in the “wrong profession”.
#4 I can’t stand the heat. Yes, I was born on an island, but I’d take sunny 50 to low 60 degree weather any day!
#3 I enjoy rollerblading! I owned a pair of roller blades when I was younger and loved them to bits. Sadly, I’ve outgrown them and haven’t skated since. I intend on purchasing a pair and starting it up again, soon.

#2 I love dressing up.Whether it be to a formal event, or going to dinner with friends or my beau, I like putting myself together for that event. I haven't gotten to go out much recently, though.
#1 The past five years have been a wonderful transitioning and growing period for me. I have evolved much as a person and I have learned so much about myself, people, love, and Jesus. I am more confident, a bit more outspoken, and I have a completely different outlook everything in general. Life is good at this moment.

( Sidenote: I used to avoid taking pics at all costs because of my exotropia. I've learned how to maneuver myself around it now by changing the angles of my head and body. This way, it is less noticeable and I can stop hiding from flashing cameras)

**I hate to be the one to stop the ball rolling in my court, but I don't really have any new new blogs that I follow. That does not mean that the one that I do follow are not stylish.. trust me, they are (most of them are independent fashion bloggers)!**

A New Blog Feature... How (p)interesting

Pinterest is an up and coming network that allows users to keep an archive of their favorite images on virtual pinboards. Whether you love images of interesting photography concepts, delicious foods, dresses, or inspiring outfits... there's a pinboard for that!.... if you want to create one for yourself, of course.

Although it's quite easy to get sucked into this new craze, I am able to spend a reasonable amount of time on the site every week, just to take a gander at new pins or even post some of my own. There are so many pretty images I would like to share with you guys that I have decided to start this blog feature: Five Pin Fridays. Every Friday, I will post five of my favorite pins for the week. They may all have a general theme or they just be random selections that I've fallen in love with.

Here begins my very first Five Pin Fridays. This week's central theme is scenery.

1) Dusk, campfire, and a fancy tent? What more could you ask for on a camping trip. I would love to go camping if my tent looked like that.  2)Autumn tree tunnel, Smuggler's Notch State Park, Vermont : 3) Looks like a world within a world. Such a lovely looking place. 4) This image reminds me of Fern Gully in Jamaica. Remember this post?... It would be a great aisle for a wedding ceremony... no lie. 5) Saihoji (Kokedera) - Kyoto, Japan:.  This area looks so surreal. Almost like a painting. When I look at this photo, I can feel the warm, humid air on my skin and the softness of the grass and moss between my toes. Love it!

One of My Favorite Places...

The Schuylkill River Walk is one of my favorite places in Philly. Nestled beside the bustling Schuylkill expressway and behind the downtown area, it is a great place to take a relaxing walk on a cool, summer/spring day. At any given hour of the day, you may find joggers, dog walkers, or bikers in the area. The trail extends from the Walnut Street area, to the Art Museum circle. On weekends, you may also find newlyweds embarking on their post-ceremony photoshoots by the Waterworks restaurant, or families having birthday parties in a park by the art museum.

Personally, this place means a lot to me. My beau and I venture out here often to take walks, reevaluate our relationship, have lunch or just to hang out. Minus the foot traffic, I think it's a peaceful place to be. Beau even asked me to be his girlfriend here (photo below) approx. two years ago (July 2, 2009)!

There's never a dull moment here. There are always new faces to see, new activities going on, and different memories to be made. I love this place!

Two Is Better Than One

"Two Is Better Than One" by Boys Like Girls ft. Taylor Swift

I remember the first time I heard this song...
Fall 2009: It was advertised all over campus that MTV and Boys Like Girls would be shooting a commercial (follow link if interested in seeing the commercial) on Drew U's campus and they wanted extras. They were willing to pay $50 cash to all extras, so as a college student, of course I signed up with a few friends. It was fun seeing the band and working on the party scene in the gym. Overall, it took way too long to film the commercial. So much valuable study time was wasted, but I left with $50, and a new favorite song.

**Alicia Keys also filmed her video to 'Teenage Love Affair' on Drew's campus in 2008, but that's a story for another day.**
